me and these other doods, rayn, sven, tony ( and witha little help from jole, mary and monica) did this art exhibition in entrepot gallery in hobart. it was a fully subversive environment. our focus was on atmosphere creation and transorming the exhibition space into a new environment, rather than just hanging things on the walls on the walls or putting something on a plynth or whatever. it started off with me doing the audio component, which where these long and textural expressive soundscapes, and Ryan doing the videos which where sample cut up and source footage thing which are kind of hard to describe. then we all collaberated on the rest of it.
installation is what we call it in the wankpot known as the art world.
the space was split down the middle into 2 areas.
one side was completley chaotic full, of mess and broken things and splatered paint and anything and everything. the walls wher painted and splattered with various things then painted again, with random stuff adheered to it with glue gun, lots of pva glue and dirt and sand and cigerette ash and analogue tape. a real intence performative emotional release realy fed off our frustration with each other and our emotions, we pretty much went bezerk and for the most part it was completely automated.
the other side was this neat, clean environment, the walls where white, there where pot plants, and candels and stuff, there where pictures on the wall, there was nice carpet on the floor. there where some realy kitch elements, it looked like some yuppyish upper class living room.
there was a tv monitor on each side of the room playing ryan's videos, one on a plynth and the other on a black painted broken dishwasher. my sound was played through a surround sound system, one speaker in each corner.
